It wasn’t all smooth sailing
Love Island star Jordan Hames has admitted that he almost went bankrupt while pursuing a career as a model before rising to fame on the ITV2 dating show.
Jordan first came into the public eye when he entered the famous villa in 2019, but prior to that, he worked as a model for a number of fashion brands.
The reality star has revealed that making it big wasn’t easy and, while he appeared to be successful, he made a number of “sacrifices” and “crippled himself financially”.
Jordan reminisced about pre-fame life as he shared a number of throwback clips on his Instagram story.
Alongside one video, which showed him walking through the streets of Hollywood, Jordan wrote, “All I wanted to do was be a model in Hollywood. Almost went bankrupt in the process let me tell you 🤣.”
The ex-Islander told his followers that although he booked more modelling jobs after returning to the UK from America, he’d “sacrificed money and credit” to take himself Stateside in the first place.
He continued, “It’s mad because from the outside looking in, it looked like I went to LA the first time and smashed it when in reality I’d seriously crippled myself financially.
“Still had an overdraft from uni, only booked one job, owned zero assets and drove my dad’s car lmao…
“I think sometimes people think I just landed in good times… No. I sacrificed my career, my money, and my credit cause I believed it would take me to a better place.”
“My point is… risk = reward,” Jordan added, before urging fans, “Be fearless and go get it 💪🏾.”
Although he didn’t manage to find The One in the Love Island villa, after his relationship with Anna Vakili ended with an explosive showdown when he flirted with India Reynolds, Jordan hasn’t been short of female attention.
He was linked to former TOWIE star Ferne McCann when they were spotted kissing on a night out and last year was pictured leaving the NTAs hand-in-hand with Dancing On Ice pro skater Vanessa Bauer.
At the time, a source claimed Jordan and Vanessa were “smitten” with each other but, sadly, it seems nothing came of their relationship as he moved into a bachelor pad with Michael Griffiths, Danny Williams and Chris Taylor last summer.
