Porn star Gemma Massey teases fresh start thousands of miles away

A porn star who went from stacking shelves at Asda to a £25,000-a-day adult film performer has spoken of making a fresh start – and hinted it could be thousands of miles away.

Tamworth businesswoman Gemma Massey said she was moving “as far away as possible” from the town after closing her tanning salon business earlier than originally announced today, Friday, January 28.

The tanning venue opened in 2017 but said it had endured a “very difficult” two years and was closing ahead of looming rises in energy costs.

Its Facebook page confirmed: “It’s with the heaviest heart we announce the permanent closure of 32 Tanning Studio Tamworth.

“We have had a very difficult two years, and it’s been an extremely difficult and financially challenging time. Now with the rise of energy costs we have now made the difficult decision to cease trading.

“We would like to invite customers to use all of their minutes that they have on their accounts by this date. We would also like to thank every customer for their support since we opened back in 2017. Love 32.”

A new statement read: “Good morning Tanners, due to unforeseen circumstances 32 Tanning will not be reopening and will now be closed.

Gemma first found fame after being approached over glamour modelling aged 19 as she earned less than £5-an-hour stacking shelves at Asda while training to be a dental nurse.

She previously told BirminghamLive: “I ended up being a page three model for lots of the tabloids and was a fans’ favourite in the Daily Sport.

“As my popularity grew I went to America to do modelling work and became the first woman from the UK to appear on the front of Penthouse magazine.

I got into adult films and at one point I was earning £25,000 per day. I would only work once a month. I had new cars and free surgery written into my contracts. I was earning a fortune.”

She launched her new business, a platform for online sex workers, in December and said the response had been “phenomenal”.
