Princess Charlene shares wedding song as she remains apart from Albert in ‘trying time’

PRINCESS CHARLENE of Monaco shared a touching video featuring a song played at her wedding with Prince Albert.

Princess Charlene has signalled her marriage is still strong despite her prolonged absence from Monaco due to her health. The South Africa-born royal shared a video on her popular Instagram account in which singer Alouise dedicates her a song during a live performance.

Before she started to play her guitar, the performer could be heard saying: “All right, let’s do this. Charlene, this song is for you”.

Alouise performed the 2009’s song My Help Hart by South African quartet Romanz, which was also played during the wedding of Prince Albert and Princess Charlene a decade ago.

Upon sharing this video, Princess Charlene wrote on Instagram: “My dear friend Alouise, Thank you for remembering our wedding song. With all my heart – Merci”.

This social media post was shared a few days after Prince Albert attended the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Tokyo – an event the married couple have always attended together.

Attending the Games would have surely been incredibly important for Princess Charlene, who is a former Olympian.

During the 2000 Sydney Olympics, she was a member of South Africa’s 100-meter medley women’s swim team.

Prince Albert is also an Olympian, as he has taken part for Team Monaco in five Winter Olympic Games between 1988 and 2002.

However, Princess Charlene is stuck in South Africa, where she travelled earlier this year to carry out various conservation operations such as rhino monitoring and tracking, deployment with the Anti-Poaching Unit and educational wildlife photography sessions.

While she was expected to travel back to Monaco in May, Charlene had to put all her return plans on hold after contracting a severe ear, nose and throat infection, which made it impossible for her to fly.

This meant the Princess of Monaco could not spend her 10th wedding anniversary in the company of Prince Albert and their twin children Jacques and Gabriella.

The long-distance from her family and her health issues turned the past few months into a “trying time” for Charlene.

The Monaco royal told South Africa’s Channel24 earlier this month: “It’s been a trying time for me.

“I miss my husband and children dearly.

“What has been extremely difficult for me was when I was instructed by my medical team that I could not return home for my 10th wedding anniversary.

“Albert is my rock and strength and without his love and support I would not have been able to get through this painful time.”

Ahead of their anniversary on July 2, the Princess also issued a sombre statement reading: “This year will be the first time that I’m not with my husband on our anniversary in July, which is difficult, and it saddens me.

“However, Albert and I had no choice but to follow the medical team’s instructions even though it is extremely difficult.

“He has been the most incredible support to me.

“My daily conversations with Albert and my children help immensely to keep my spirits up, but I miss being with them.

“It was special to have my family visit me in South Africa, and it was truly wonderful seeing them. I can’t wait to be reunited with them.”

Prince Albert and the twins travelled to South Africa in June to visit Charlene.

And Monaco’s royal palace told People magazine they are planning to return to South Africa soon to see once again Charlene.

On July 9, Princess Charlene shared on Instagram snaps of herself on the phone with her children.

She wrote: “Spending time with Jacqui and Bella making blankets for the crèche next door. Wish me luck”
