Earlewood Park
North of downtown Columbia, in the Earlewood area, Earlewood Park offers a new Community Center, a unique playground, an amphitheater, a disc golf course, baseball/kickball fields, basketball courts, and tennis courts. NoMa Bark Park, an off-leash dog park covering two acres, is also located in Earlewood Park. One of the biggest and oldest parks in the city, Earlewood Park is a focal point of the area.
Noma Community Garden
The Cottontown, Elmwood Park, Earlewood, Laurel Hill, and Canal Place downtown neighborhoods are close by, as is the NOMA Community Garden, which is situated between North Main and River Road. The City of Columbia is the tenant and SCDOT is the owner of the land. The SC Department of Transportation began condemning and demolishing roughly twenty residences in the middle of the 1980s in order to develop a six lane link between 277 and 126. Thankfully, the downtown residents banded together and stopped the idea, preventing a higher roadway from passing through our communities. This property has housed 50 raised garden beds after being an eyesore for over 30 years. Anyone who wishes to garden or learn more about gardening is welcome to use the NOMA Community Garden. A bed can be rented for $20 per year, which also includes water. A bed will be planted and cared for year-round by members.
Noma Bark Park
The dog park is situated inside the walking path close to Earlewood Park’s North Main entrance. In addition to separate play spaces for small dogs and large dogs, amenities include benches for relaxation, drinking fountains, shade trees, and simple pet waste disposal stations. * Members only get access to the NOMA Bark Park. A $25 annual fee is required for each dog. Dogs must be fixed, spayed, and immunized.
Earlewood Park
This new building, which is tucked away in the historic Earlewood Park just north of the city center of Columbia, is the ideal location for small business meetings and social functions. There is a banquet hall/meeting room with eight and six foot tables and chairs in this 3,520 square foot structure. For ease in handling food preparation and catering, a kitchenette with stainless steel appliances (refrigerator, warming oven, and ice maker) is provided.
