Wayne Lineker insists he’s not an ‘idiot’ after being slammed for girlfriend advert

Wayne Lineker has spoken out about people thinking he’s an “idiot” after he went viral for his girlfriend advert.

Last year, he caused uproar when he posted a list of criteria that a woman must meet before he’ll consider going out with them.

And he says that despite some people thinking less of him, he’s still got the pick of the ladies.

Gary Lineker’s brother insisted the ad was “tongue in cheek” as he told the Daily Star : “I think some people think I’m an absolute idiot. But a lot of girls like me.”

The Ibiza club boss, 58, who is appearing on the new series of Celebs Go Dating, had advertised for a “worldie” who has a toned body and is good in the kitchen.

He also said that any of his prospective lovers shouldn’t want to have kids, must enjoy his favourite Netflix shows and listen to house and R ‘n’ B music.

Wayne also said the lucky lady should be willing to give up her job in order to spend time on tropical beaches with him 24/7.

And he confessed that he even dumped his ex Danielle because she wanted a career.

He said: “My ex Danielle, for the first years of our relationship she never had a job, she was with me 24/7.

“But she really got into her career which meant she wasn’t at the beach club and it must have been difficult for her.

“I ended our relationship because we couldn’t spend the time we used to spend together.”

Wayne has grown close to Geordie Shore star Chloe Ferry, 25, while they’ve been filming the reality dating show together, and he’s said it’s a shame they can’t be a couple.

“Shame I’m not allowed to date the celebs,” he captioned a picture of them together.

Chloe called him “My boy” in the comments section, fuelling speculation that something has been going on between them while they’ve been holed up in a luxury mansion for the E4 show which sets them up on date with non-celebs.
