How To Style The £6 Polo Neck From Primark That’s Going To Change Your Life

H

This winter, there’s no smarter purchase to add to your wardrobe than a ribbed polo neck. Snuggly, warm and, handily on trend, they’re the equivalent of getting away with wearing pyjamas to work.

Luckily, Primark have gone hard on polo necks this season. There’s a whole bunch of them in store now with various size ribbing, high and low necks, and different thicknesses. They’re all cosy, and none of them cost more than £6. So buy three. I did.

Anyways, in case you’re stuck on how to style it, we’ve come up with a few ideas to help you out…

Under a shirt

Who says you have to stop wearing lightweight summer shirts? Just whack a polo underneath and Bob’s your mum, you’re good to go. Take tips from Anna our creative editor, who teamed hers with this ASOS tie shirt and shoes and Weekday jeans.

With culottes

Because going fancy on the bottom means you should keep it calm on the top. Jess our culture editor has channelled her ever-present MC Hammer leanings into her Mango culottes with her polo neck saving the whole thing from looking completely bonkers.

Be adorable

Editorial assistant Chemmie uses her polo neck to pull off a look that serves a double purpose: looking very cute and ensuring she gets ID’ed when she buys booze. Polo necks and pinafores – the very look for someone feeling insecure about their upcoming birthday.

KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid)

Jeans and a T-shirt? Meh. Jeans and polo neck though, and you’re automatically upgraded a fashion level. Intern Aneesa keeps it casual with Chelsea boots, an open coat and a pair of printed jeans. And kills it.

Whack on some wool

This season, wool is certainly your new BFF (that should keep mum happy). If you’re worried about your cropped trousers not translating well now the temperatures are dropping, go for a skirt that you can always whack a pair of tights underneath – just like fashion ed Charlie plans to soon. The skirt? Oh tha’’s from COS. Much love skirt, much love.

Jump around

Another way to take your summer stuff into winter. As long as your summer jumpsuits aren’t made of gauze masquerading as material, then stick a polo neck underneath them and carry on through to January – just like editor Rebecca here.
