This winter, there’s no smarter purchase to add to your wardrobe than a ribbed polo neck. Snuggly, warm and, handily on trend, they’re the equivalent of getting away with wearing pyjamas to work.
Luckily, Primark have gone hard on polo necks this season. There’s a whole bunch of them in store now with various size ribbing, high and low necks, and different thicknesses. They’re all cosy, and none of them cost more than £6. So buy three. I did.

Under a shirt

Jeans and a T-shirt? Meh. Jeans and polo neck though, and you’re automatically upgraded a fashion level. Intern Aneesa keeps it casual with Chelsea boots, an open coat and a pair of printed jeans. And kills it.

This season, wool is certainly your new BFF (that should keep mum happy). If you’re worried about your cropped trousers not translating well now the temperatures are dropping, go for a skirt that you can always whack a pair of tights underneath – just like fashion ed Charlie plans to soon.
